Ben here again from the SLJ commenting team.

You’ve nailed it with this activity, really proud of you!

Thanks for challenging me with a slide of your own. It feels like you’ve given this a lot of thought! This is what I see:
-Domino 2 is coloured whilst the others aren’t.
-Domino 4 is the only one that is horizontal.
-Domino 1 has dots on only one half.
-Domino 3 has an identical pair of dots whilst the others do not.

    Did I miss anything?

Keep up the good work e tama!

  2. Hey Jacob,

I’m Daniel from the SLJ Blog commenting team. I’m looking forward to seeing all your amazing blog posts and I hope you’re enjoying your summer.

Great work on this task, lots of good observations, it’s great to see you found two on every picture and sometimes four.

Here are my answers for your pictures.

4 is the only one that is sitting horizontally
2 is the only one that doesn’t add to 6
1 is the only one with all it’s dots on one half of the tile.

I’m glad you had fun with this task and I like the thought you put into your own slide. I’m sure lots of clever students will be able to see differences that I haven't spotted.

    Great work Jacob,
See you later in the comments.

    Daniel

My name is Renee and I’m from the Summer Learning Journey Team. Ka pai for your mahi on this awesome blog post and especially for completing both the “Kick Start” and “Step It Up” elements of the activity - this means that you have earned extra points towards your Summer Learning Journey points tally.

I particularly like how you identified more than one difference for each set of objects. Which were your favourite pictures to analyse?

When I look at the images of the four dominos that you have included I notice that:

Picture 4 is the only horizontal domino.
Picture 2 is the only domino that does not have white dots.
Picture 2 is the only domino that does not add up to six.
Picture 1 is the only domino that includes a square with no dots.

Is there any I have missed?

Ngā mihi nui and keep up the excellent mahi - I can’t wait to see your other posts over the summer.

    Renee (SLJ)
